Cachar Superintendent of Police Sanjib Kumar Saikia recently convened an important interaction session with residents of villages situated along the Indo-Bangladesh border in Katigorah. The meeting, held on Saturday, aimed to foster direct dialogue under the "Senior Officials Interaction with Border Village People" initiative, where the SSP shared key insights derived from a recent high-level conference in New Delhi.
Addressing the gathered villagers, Saikia explained that his visit carried a specific mandate following his participation in a crucial conference chaired by the Union Home Minister on July 9. He emphasized his intention to disseminate crucial messages and outline prospective plans for India's border regions, which were deliberated during the Delhi meeting. "I came here for a special reason," Saikia reportedly stated, highlighting the significance of conveying the central government's vision directly to the border communities and ensuring local understanding of national strategies for security and development.
The interactive session provided a vital platform for local residents to voice their concerns and perspectives on various issues impacting their daily lives in the sensitive border area. These concerns, often unique to communities living in close proximity to an international boundary, ranged from security aspects to infrastructure and livelihood challenges. Saikia assured the community members that he would elaborate on the core discussions from the national conference and also integrate his own observations regarding the unique challenges and opportunities present in the Cachar border region, promising a comprehensive approach to their issues.
