Digital Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday recalled his first day as a Member of Parliament in the Lok Sabha and said that this is the strength of Indian democracy that the son of a poor family who lived on a railway platform made it to Parliament. He added that he never imagined that the nation would give him so much respect, blessings, and love.

My initial reaction was to bow down at the Lok Sabha's entrance when I first entered as a member of parliament and stepped inside this temple of democracy. That moment was filled with emotions for me. I was unable to imagine it. The son of a poor family who lived on the railway platform made it to Parliament because of the strength of democracy in India and the dedication and admiration of the general public.

The five-day "Amrit Kaal" session of Parliament began in the old building on Monday after an all-a-day party meeting was held in the national capital.

As the proceedings are set to begin in the new building on Tuesday, PM Modi on Monday referred to the historic moments that took place in the old Parliament building.

During a special session of the Lok Sabha, Modi stated, "This old Parliament building was built with sweat, hard work, and money of our countrymen." Opening the session Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said that the Parliament proceedings will shift to the new building from Tuesday.

PM Modi further added, "We will go to the new Parliament building but the existing one will always inspire the coming generation."
