A senior Indian diplomat had been expelled from Canada, according to Trudeau's Foreign Minister Melanie Joly, who announced following his remarks in the Canadian Parliament.

Digital Desk: In response to a dispute between India and Canada over the murder of a Khalistani separatist leader in that nation, the Congress stated on Tuesday that the nation's interests and concerns must remain paramount and that its fight against terrorism must be uncompromising.

Hours after Canada requested an Indian official leave the country due to a "potential" Indian connection to the assassination of the separatist leader in June, India on Thursday announced the expulsion of the Canadian diplomat.

"The Indian National Congress has always believed that our country's fight against terrorism has to be uncompromising, especially when terrorism threatens India's sovereignty, unity and integrity," Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said in a post on 'X'.

He added, "Our country's interests and concerns must be kept paramount at all times."

India has categorically rejected as "baseless" and "motivated" Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's assertion that there was a "potential link" between Indian government agents and the murder of a Khalistani separatist leader and has asked for swift judicial action against anti-Indian groups operating out of Canada.
