The initiative aims to guarantee uninterrupted connectivity, a vital necessity during natural calamities when regular network infrastructure may be compromised or overloaded. With parts of Upper Assam grappling with severe flooding, ensuring that residents can communicate with emergency services, family, and friends is paramount for safety and coordination.
This temporary facility means that if a subscriber's primary telecom operator's network is unavailable or weak, their device will automatically latch onto the strongest available network from any other operator. This enhances reliability significantly, allowing for continuous communication even in areas where specific network coverage might be disrupted by the floods.
The decision is expected to significantly ease distress for thousands residing in the three affected districts, enabling better coordination for relief efforts and personal safety during this challenging period.
