Actor Aditya Uppal, who portrays ASP Omar Haider, a character based on a real-life figure, has revealed that he has been receiving death threats following the film’s release. His character plays a crucial role in the narrative, beginning the investigation into Hamza Ali Mazari even before the death of SP Aslam, a role portrayed by Sanjay Dutt.
The storyline shows him piecing together key evidence that eventually exposes the truth behind the character played by Ranveer Singh.
Despite being widely praised in India and among Bollywood audiences, Uppal noted that the international response has been mixed. While some viewers from Pakistan appreciated the film and his performance, others reacted strongly, leading to threats from across the border.
Amid the controversy, Uppal also shared that he noticed his name being added to Omar Haider’s Wikipedia page under the popular culture section, which he described as a significant recognition of his work.
