Taking to X, Trump said that after a long night of talks mediated by the United States, India, and Pakistan have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire.

Digital Desk: United States President Donald Trump on Saturday announced that India and Pakistan have agreed to a 'full and immediate' ceasefire.

Taking to X, Trump said that after a long night of talks mediated by the United States, India, and Pakistan have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire.

He also extended his congratulatory message to both countries for 'using common sense and great intelligence'.

However, sources claimed that the de-escalation worked out bilaterally and not a result of mediation. Both countries stopped firing and escalation after talks over telephonic conversation, sources said.

Moments after the announcement of ceasefire agreement by Trump, Foreign Secretary of India Vikram Misri addressed a press conference and said that Pakistan's Directors General of Military Operations (DGMO) called Indian DGMO at 15:35 hours earlier this afternoon.

It was agreed between them that both sides would stop all firing and military action on land and in the air and sea with effect from 1700 hours Indian Standard Time, Misri added.

Both countries will now speak on May 12 at 1200 hours, Vikram Misri further added.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said that India and Pakistan have worked out an understanding on the stoppage of firing and military action. India has consistently maintained a firm and uncompromising stance against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, Jaishankar said.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also confirmed that India and Pakistan have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire, marking a de-escalation after days of cross-border attacks from both sides.
