The Women and Child Welfare Department officer has issued an order to the Anganwadi workers and staff in the village...

Digital Desk: In a bizarre incident, Anganwadi students had their meals snatched away from them even before they could take a bite from it. The children, who were given eggs as part of their meal, had their videos recorded while praying before their food. Shockingly, the eggs were then taken away from their plates before they could take a single bite.

The incident took place in Karnataka’s Gundur village, Karatagi taluk of Koppal district.

The incident has led to the suspension of Lakshmi, an Anganwadi worker, and Shainaja Begum, a helper, following suspicions of fraud in the distribution of eggs. The Women and Child Welfare Department officer has issued an order to the Anganwadi workers and staff in the village, as reported by TV9 Kannada. The video of the incident, which went viral on social media, has sparked widespread outrage and calls for accountability.

Earlier in a separate but equally concerning incident, worms were discovered in meal packets provided to children at an Anganwadi center on Sinhgad Road, Pune.

The government supplies moong dal khichdi premix to children aged six months to three years as part of the midday meal initiative.

However, the poor quality of the food packets, found to be infested with worms, has raised serious concerns about the safety and quality of meals provided to Anganwadi children.
