Digital Desk: Jailed former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan will campaign for the position of Chancellor at Oxford University from his jail cell, as reported by The Telegraph. Khan, an Oxford graduate, is currently detained in Adiala Jail facing multiple charges. Despite his incarceration, he plans to participate in the online ballot for the chancellorship, a position recently vacated by Lord Patten, the Tory Party chairman who held the role for 21 years.

Syed Zulfi Bukhari, Khan's adviser on international media, confirmed to The Telegraph that there is significant public support for Khan's candidacy. “Imran Khan will contest for the chancellor of Oxford University as there is a public demand that he should contest,” Bukhari said. He added that a formal announcement and signature campaign will follow once they receive confirmation from Khan.

Imran Khan, who graduated in Economics and Politics from Keble College, Oxford in 1972, has previously served as Chancellor of Bradford University from 2005 to 2014. His campaign will face competition from notable figures such as former British Prime Ministers Sir Tony Blair and Boris Johnson.

This election will mark a departure from tradition, being conducted online rather than requiring graduates to vote in full academic attire. Khan, who is imprisoned on charges of inciting protests and violence against Pakistan's military, which he denies, has described his prison conditions as harsh.

In a recent interview, he said, "I am confined in a 7ft by 8ft death cell, typically reserved for terrorists. People voted for me because they are fed up with the current system and how Pakistan is being run."
