Digital Desk: Today, around 12:35 PM, fire broke out in the Minor Operation Theater (OT) of the Orthopedic Department at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). The fire, which occurred apparently started on the ground floor of the building, then moved up to the first floor. While the exact cause of the fire is yet to be confirmed, reports indicate this could have been a result of a short circuit.
Two fire Brigades swiftly reached the scene and tried to control the fire.At the time of the incident, around six to seven patients were present on the second floor of the building. Fortunately, there are no casualties, and the evacuation team has initiated the work.
The police are investigating the accident, and the situation awaits more information. Emergency services are still responding to the situation, which is under close observation.
