Saikia further said that the city will host around five matches of the ICC Women's ODI World Cup 2025.

Digital Desk: Guwahati is set to host its first Test cricket match and ICC Women's World Cup matches in 2025, becoming the first Test cricket venue in the Northeast. BCCI general secretary Devajit Saikia on Sunday confirmed the news.

The city will host a Test match between India and South Africa in November this year. He also confirmed the hosting of the city's first-ever World Cup match of ICC Women's ODI World Cup later this year.

He added that the BCCI apex council meeting on Saturday took the decision to host Test and World Cup matches in Assam.

The second match of the two-match Test series between India and South Africa will be played at the Assam Cricket Association (ACA) Stadium, Barsapara from November 22 to 26, 2025.

Saikia further said that the city will host around five matches of the ICC Women's ODI World Cup 2025.

The BCCI general secretary said that the Women's World Cup is scheduled from September 24 to November 2. Guwahati has been selected as one of the venues during the BCCI apex council meeting.

Additionally, Bollywood actor Jacqueline Fernandez will grace the stage on March 26 at the Barsapara Stadium.
