A Congress MLA from the Julana constituency of Jind district, Vinesh Phogat has raised the issue in the Haryana Assembly.
Digital Desk: The Haryana Government has decided to offer three choices to wrestler-turned-politician Vinesh Phogat equivalent to those of an Olympic Silver medallist under the state's sports policies.
The three choices offered to Phogat are: a Group-A job, a cash prize of Rs 4 crore, and a plot under the Haryana Shahri Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP).
A Congress MLA from the Julana constituency of Jind district, Vinesh Phogat has raised the issue in the Haryana Assembly.
In a statement, the Haryana Cabinet said that since Phogat is an MLA, the state government will seek her preference regarding which benefits she wishes to avail.
However, Phogat has not yet responded to the benefits.
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said that Vinesh had raised the issue in the Vidhan Sabha. Her issue was treated as a special case and considered for grant of benefits under the sports policy.
Star Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat was disqualified from the Paris Olympics 2024 for being overweight ahead of the final in the women's 50 kg event.
