At least 2263 distribution transformers (DTRs) are down, plunging different places into darkness. A total of 279 water supply schemes are impacted, authorities said.

Digital Desk: With extreme weather returning to trouble Himachal Pradesh, the heavy snowfall and rain created havoc in the Himalayan state on Friday. The incessant rainfall on the region has blocked around 583 roads including 5 national highways and disrupted water and electricity supply.

Many vehicles were swept away and damaged following heavy rain and landslides in lower areas of Kullu district. The Chandigarh-Manali highway was also shut temporarily. The Shimla-Kinnaur highway was blocked due to landslides and avalanches.

The Rishikesh-Badrinath National Highway near Karnaprayag has been closed due to incessant rainfall in Uttarakhand.

Heavy snowfall was reported in Lahaul and Spiti regions. As per reports, the high hills were blanketed by snowfall, while the mid and lower regions were heavily impacted by heavy downpours.

Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukku urged people to follow guidelines issued by the administration.
