The government has been insisting that Union Home Minister Amit Shah will reply to the debate on the Manipur situation.
Digital Desk: On Wednesday, Congress submitted a no-confidence motion in the PM Narendra Modi-led central government in the Lok Sabha about the Manipur issue. Gaurav Gogoi, the Lok Sabha deputy leader for the Congress, moved the motion. The Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) leader and MP Nama Nageswara Rao moved a second motion of no confidence.
The united opposition front INDIA is in support of the motion of no-confidence introduced by Assam MP Gogoi. "This is the idea of the INDIA alliance, and the INDIA alliance is together. It will be proposed by the chairman of the Congress party. We feel it is our responsibility to use this final weapon to bring down the government's arrogance and force them to speak about Manipur," Manickam Tagore, the whip for the Congress party in the Lok Sabha, stated.
According to senior leaders of the INDIA front, the 26-party alliance's vote of no confidence is an attempt to make PM Modi to address the violence in Manipur in Parliament. The government has been insisting that Union Home Minister Amit Shah will reply to the debate on the Manipur situation.
The opposition front's no-confidence motion is bound to fail the numbers test. However, INDIA parties claim that by forcing the government to address the Manipur issue during the parliamentary debate, they would prevail in the perception battle. Additionally, Congress also issued a whip for its LS members to be present at its parliamentary office on Wednesday by 10:30 am to "discuss some important issues".
