Digital Desk: An Indian Army captain has been martyred during a terrorist encounter in Doda, Jammu and Kashmir, according to an official statement. The captain, serving with the 48 Rashtriya Rifles, was killed while leading a search party in the ongoing Operation Assar, which commenced on August 13.

Earlier, Army’s Northern Command wrote in a post on 'X', “Search for the terrorists continues amidst heavy firefight. One officer has been injured while leading the search party. War like stores have been recovered as operations continue.”

Jammu and Kashmir has seen a recent increase in terror attacks. The Ministry of Home Affairs reported that, up to July 21, 28 individuals, including both civilians and security personnel, were killed in 11 terror-related incidents and 24 counter-terror operations.

Today, Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh led a crucial meeting on the rising terror incidents in Jammu and Kashmir, attended by Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Director General of Military Operations Lieutenant General Pratik Sharma, and other security agency heads. In response to the current threat level, security forces in the region are on high alert for Independence Day to ensure public safety.
