Internet services were shut down to prevent the spread of misinformation, which could have heightened tensions with Assam.

Digital Desk: Meghalaya's internet services have been restored seven days after the Assam-Meghalaya firing incident.

West Jaintia Hills, East Jaintia Hills, East Khasi Hills, Ri-Bhoi, eastern West Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills, and South West Khasi Hills have all had their internet services suspended.

Internet services were shut down to prevent the spread of misinformation, which could have heightened tensions with Assam.

The Mukroh incident sparked several protests, with miscreants attacking Assamese tourists and drivers.

On November 22, an incident of firing occurred between Assam Forest Officials and unknown miscreants at Mukhrow, Jirikinding PS, West Karbi Anglong District. According to reports, the incident occurred when the Forest Party attempted to stop a truck transporting illegal timber.

When the forest party personnel stopped the truck, they were gheraoed by unknown miscreants who resorted to violence. To save their lives, the forest party resorted to shooting. Three civilians and one forest guard were killed in the incident.
