Digital Desk: Reliance Industries announced in a regulatory statement on Friday that its shareholders had approved the nomination of Ambani scions Akash, Isha, and Anant to the company's board. Isha Ambani garnered 98.21% of the vote, while Anant Ambani won 98.06%. Anant Ambani was elected as the Company's non-executive director with 92.75 percent of the vote.

Earlier, during Reliance Industries' 46th Annual General Meeting, chairman Mukesh Ambani said that his wife Nita Ambani had stepped down from the company's board and would still serve as chairperson of the Reliance Foundation. According to the firm, Nita Ambani will permanently be invited to all RIL Board meetings in her capacity as Chair of the Reliance Foundation, so that the company can continue to gain from her counsel. 

Akash Ambani was promoted to the position of chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd. by Mukesh Ambani last year. Reliance announced the appointment of Isha Ambani as the head of its retail division and the announcement of Anant Ambani as the head of its new energy division.
