Digital Desk: Hamas handed over three female Israeli hostages through the Red Cross as part of the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas-led Palestine on Sunday evening. The released hostages are Romi Gonen, Doron Steinbrecher, and Emily Damari. In return, Israel will release 90 Palestinian prisoners soon.

The Israeli army also withdrew from some of the locations in Gaza. Displaced Palestinians are returning to their native places.

The first phase of the ceasefire deal between Israel and Hamas began at 11.15 am on Sunday. The agreement started three hours later than the actual time of the deal, originally scheduled at 8.30 am.

Exposing the fragile nature of the agreement, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a statement said, "We deserve the right to resume the war if necessary, with American support."

US President-elect Donald Trump welcomed the release of the hostages and called for a swift deal.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military has continued its attacks on Gaza, killing eight people and several injured. An Israeli army personnel said that Hamas has to work according to the deal otherwise it will face the consequences.

Donald Trump's swearing-in event as the 47th President of the United States will take place on January 20, with the presence of several world leaders and global business icons across the world.

India's Minister of External Affairs S. Jaishankar and Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani and his wife Nita Ambani will attend the swearing-in event.
