Digital Desk: A devastating explosion at the Anglican Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in Gaza City has left hundreds dead, as conflicting reports and allegations swirl regarding the incident's origin.

Palestinian authorities swiftly blamed an Israeli air strike for the catastrophic event. A spokesperson for the Gaza health ministry reported a death toll exceeding 500, making it a heart-wrenching day for Gaza.

In stark contrast, the Israeli military countered the allegations, asserting that their intelligence points to the Palestinian Islamic Jihad militant group as the culprit. They suggest a rocket, intended for Israel, malfunctioned during launch and struck the hospital.

This tragic incident unfolded on the same day that US President Joe Biden embarked on a visit to Israel and neighboring countries. However, it cast a shadow over his plans, prompting the White House to cancel a scheduled stop in Jordan, where President Biden was set to meet with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, King Abdullah of Jordan, and Egyptian President Sisi.

President Abbas declared three days of mourning in the wake of the hospital explosion and announced his return to the West Bank to address the unfolding crisis.
