Digital Desk: The first charter flight under Operation Ajay, carrying around 212 Indian people stranded in Israel due to the ongoing conflict, arrived at Delhi airport on Friday morning.

Union Minister Rajeev Chandrashekar was present at the airport to greet Indian nationals who had arrived from Israel.

"Our government will never abandon any Indian. Our government, our Prime Minister, is determined to protect them and bring them safely home," Chandrasekhar told ANI.

He also added saying, "We are grateful to EAM Dr S Jaishankar, the team at the External Affairs Ministry, the flight crew of this Air India flight for making this possible."

The flight, which was intended to help Indian citizens returning from Israel, took out Thursday evening from Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion airport. The flight was said to be capable to carry around 211 adults and a newborn.

Following the success of Ops Ajay, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar took his post on X, stating, "Operation Ajay gets underway. 212 citizens onboard the flight are en route to New Delhi."

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government has launched Operation Ajay to repatriate approximately 18,000 Indians in Israel after a series of audacious attacks on Israeli towns by Hamas militants over the weekend heightened regional tensions.
