Digital Desk: The much-anticipated biographical film ‘Michael’, based on the life of legendary American singer, songwriter, and dancer Michael Jackson, releases in Indian cinemas today. Directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by John Logan, the film is an American biographical musical drama that chronicles the life and legacy of the global pop icon, widely known as the “King of Pop.”


Marking his feature film debut, Jaafar Jackson, Michael Jackson’s nephew, portrays the adult version of the music legend, delivering a performance that has already drawn praise for its authenticity and transformation. Actor Juliano Krue Valdi plays the younger Michael, while Colman Domingo and Nia Long appear as Joe and Katherine Jackson, respectively.



Produced by Graham King, along with John Branca and John McClain, the film offers an intimate portrayal of Jackson’s journey from a young performer to a global superstar who redefined popular music and pop culture.


The film had its world premiere in Berlin on 10th April, 2026, followed by another premiere in Los Angeles. While early viewers responded with enthusiasm and emotion, critical reception has been mixed, with praise for Jaafar Jackson’s performance but some criticism regarding the film’s selective storytelling.


With a runtime of approximately 2 hours and 10 minutes, Michael’ pays tribute to the artist’s extraordinary career, celebrating the iconic hits and performances that cemented his legacy.


The film is being released in multiple formats, including IMAX, 4DX, Dolby Cinema, MX4D, ICE, and ScreenX, offering audiences an immersive cinematic experience across India.
