The CBI collected necessary documents from the SIT on Saturday and re-registered the FIR as part of their investigation. 

Digital Desk: The CBI Anti-Corruption Branch has filed an FIR against Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, following a directive from a single bench of the Calcutta High Court. This case involves allegations of the rape and murder of a trainee doctor on the college campus.

The FIR was lodged after the CBI received relevant documents from the Special Investigation Team (SIT) that had previously handled the case. On Saturday morning, the SIT delivered all pertinent documents to the CBI office at Nizam Palace, according to sources close to the investigation. The CBI has already submitted the FIR to the Alipur CJM Court.

In addition to the rape and murder case, the CBI has taken over an investigation into alleged financial irregularities at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, which occurred during Ghosh's tenure. This action followed a directive from the Calcutta High Court, which transferred the probe from a state-appointed SIT to the CBI.

The CBI collected necessary documents from the SIT on Saturday and re-registered the FIR as part of their investigation. The case drew significant media attention after the alleged rape and murder of a trainee doctor on August 9.

The high court had issued these directions in response to a petition from Akhtar Ali, a former deputy superintendent of the college, who had sought an ED investigation into the financial misconduct allegations.
