The father, whose 31-year-old daughter was discovered semi-naked and with multiple wounds on August 9, expressed confidence in the CBI’s investigation and called for the strictest penalties for those responsible.

Digital Desk: The father of the trainee doctor who was raped and murdered at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital has indicated that his daughter may have been killed in a different location and then her body placed in the seminar hall. This statement comes amid claims that recent renovations near the third-floor seminar hall in the emergency building were intended to destroy crucial evidence.

In an interview with reporters on Saturday, the victim’s father stated, “We have identified lapses in the police investigation and informed the CBI. We now suspect that the murder may not have occurred in the seminar hall; it is possible that she was killed elsewhere.”

The father, whose 31-year-old daughter was discovered semi-naked and with multiple wounds on August 9, expressed confidence in the CBI’s investigation and called for the strictest penalties for those responsible. He said, “I want action taken against the hospital department. We trust the investigative team.”

He further added, “Though we have lost one of my daughters, I feel that thousands of my sons and daughters are rallying for justice worldwide. There is a movement from Bangladesh to across the globe, and we seek justice.”

On Friday, the Calcutta High Court questioned the West Bengal government about the urgency of the renovation work near the crime scene. In response, the state government claimed that the renovations were intended to build a restroom for doctors, not to conceal evidence.

The suspicion of an attempt to destroy the crime scene gained traction after a violent mob stormed the hospital on Wednesday night, vandalizing the emergency ward, a first-floor ward, and the ENT department on the second floor, which is directly below the crime scene.

On Friday, the doctor’s parents informed the CBI that several interns and physicians from the hospital might be involved in the crime. According to a CBI officer, “The parents have indicated the possible involvement of multiple individuals in their daughter’s murder and have provided names of some interns and doctors who worked with her at the hospital.”
