Digital Desk: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has initiated the psychological assessment of Sanjoy Roy, the primary accused in the Kolkata rape-murder case.

This examination is being conducted by a team of five experts from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL), as they work to find critical details surrounding the case.

A civic volunteer with Kolkata Police, was on duty on August 9 at a police outpost within RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, providing him access to all departments. The incident came to light when the half-naked body of a 31-year-old postgraduate doctor was discovered with multiple injuries in a seminar room. The doctor had reportedly fallen asleep there the previous night, and the horrific discovery was made early the next morning.

While the CBI is not required to obtain court permission for the psychological test, subsequent assessments like brain mapping, narcoanalysis, or lie detector tests will necessitate judicial approval.

During the psychological test, Roy will be questioned based on a pre-prepared list to analyze his habits, routines, and behavioral patterns. The forensic team has been present at the RG Kar Hospital for the third consecutive day, meticulously gathering evidence from the seminar hall.

This psychological assessment, sometimes referred to as a psychological autopsy, involves techniques like layered voice analysis, which can help determine the truthfulness of the accused's statements.
