Digital Desk: A young man was arrested on Friday in Barabanki, UP, as he made his way to the police station with the severed head of his sister, whom he killed over her relationship, police said.
The incident occurred in Mithwara village in the Fatehpur area of Barabanki, UP, following an argument between Riyaz (22) and his sister Aashifa (18).
Additional Superintendent of Police Ashutosh Mishra stated that Riyaz allegedly used a sharp object to behead his sister and was on his way to the police station with her head in his hand when the police arrested him.
Mishra added that Aashifa recently eloped with her partner, Chand Babu, who is a resident of the same village.
However, based on a complaint lodged by the woman's family members, the police soon found Aashifa and sent Babu to jail, Mishra said.
After collecting the necessary evidence, a police team went to the spot where Aashifa was beheaded and sent the body for an autopsy.
Locals claimed that Riyaz was against his sister's relationship, and the two frequently argued over it.
According to the ASP, a case has been registered and the accused person has been taken into custody.
