Digital Desk: A shocking murder has been reported in Udmari village of Darrang district, where a man, identified as Nityananda Sarma was allegedly killed by his elder brother and nephew.


This brutal incident occurred around 11 PM on February 17. Reports suggest that the elder brother Sarbananda Sarma and nephew Lakhyajyoti Sarma jointly attacked and killed Nityananda following a heated altercation.


The dispute reportedly began when Nityananda objected to loud music being played at night, as his daughter was preparing for her Board exams.


This objection escalated into an argument, which turned violent.


In a fit of rage, Sarbananda and Lakhyajyoti allegedly attacked Nityananda, beating him to death with a stick.


Following the incident, the family informed the Mangaldai Police with the help of the village chief. The police promptly arrived at the scene and arrested both Sarbananda and Lakhyajyoti.


Today morning, in the presence of a magistrate, authorities recovered the body and sent it for a post-mortem examination at Mangaldai Civil Hospital.


Sources revealed that there had been longstanding disputes between the families.


Nearly six years ago, Sarbananda Sarma had allegedly set fire to Nityananda’s house, further highlighting the history of tension between them.
