Digital Desk: Eight Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs who resigned from AAP on Friday ahead of the Delhi Assembly Polls, joined the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP). The fresh blow came after AAP denied tickets to the MLAs for the upcoming elections.
The MLAs are Naresh Yadav (Mehrauli), Rohit Kumar (Trilokpuri), Madan Lal (Kasturba Nagar), Rajesh Rishi (Janakpuri), Bhavna Gaur (Palam), Bhupinder Singh Joon (Bijwasan), Pawan Kumar Sharma (Adarsh Nagar), and Girish Soni (Madipur).
The MLAs in their resignation letters cited loss of faith in party leader Arvind Kejriwal. In the resignation letters, they alleged AAP of deviating from transparency, accountability, and corruption-free governance.
Naresh Yadav of Mehrauli constituency was replaced with Mahender Chaudhary following the allegations in the Punjab Quran sacrilege case against him were proved. This led to his resignation on Friday.
Naresh Yadav said that he was disappointed over the suppression of internal voices. Pawan Kumar Sharma said that the party is deviating from the ideology on which it was formed. He expressed his concerns for the AAP while resigning.
AAP has announced 70 candidates for all the Assembly seats of Delhi. The election is scheduled for February 5, while the counting of votes will be held on February 8.
This exit comes at a time when AAP is eying for its third consecutive win in the national capital, while major opposition parties BJP and Congress are making their best efforts for a comeback.
