Church authorities in Meghalaya described the Pope as a beacon of peace and a true servant of God

Digital Desk: On 22nd April,  the people throughout Meghalaya joined worldwide mourning at the demise of Pope Francis, the beloved leader of the Roman Catholic Church. The mass ceremony at Laitumkhrah's Cathedral Church attracted many religious followers who gathered to offer prayers and pay their final respects.

People found the service very moving because it contained heartfelt tributes mixed with somber moments of reflection. Local representatives, with church leaders and public members, united to celebrate the life work of this spiritual leader who earned worldwide affection through his compassionate character and strong commitment to social justice and equality.

Pope Francis, who became the head of the Catholic Church in 2013, was admired globally — and in Meghalaya — for his progressive views, inclusive leadership, and message of peace. Church officials in the state described him as a guiding light and a servant of humanity whose teachings resonated deeply with the people.

In the coming days, more prayer gatherings and memorial ceremonies will take place across different parishes in the state, as the Catholic community strives to remember and honor the lasting impact of the Pope.
