Ajit went missing on 19th October , after leaving his hostel around 11 a.m
Digital Desk : A 22-year-old medical student from Rajasthan’s Alwar district, who had been missing in Russia for nearly three weeks, was found dead near a dam in Ufa city, his family confirmed on Thursday. The student, identified as Ajit Singh Chaudhary, had been pursuing an MBBS degree at Bashkir State Medical University since 2023.
Ajit went missing on October 19, after leaving his hostel around 11 a.m., telling friends he would return shortly after buying milk. However, he never came back. His clothes, phone, shoes were later found near the White River days later by local authorities arousing suspicion of his disappearance. Nineteen days later on Thursday, Ajit was found dead in a dam that was close to the same river.
The Indian Embassy in Moscow also notified the family, as well as local officials in Alwar on the discovery. The identity of the body was verified by fellow students and officials stated that a post-mortem examination would be conducted by a medical board before the remains are sent back to India. The process of repatriation, which is organized between the Indian Embassy and the Russian authorities, should take two-three days.
Ajit’s tragic death has left his family and entire village in shock. Relatives said they had sold three bighas of land to fund his education abroad. “We sent him with so many dreams. Now, we are only waiting for his body to return,” a family member said.
Local leaders and community members in Alwar have expressed outrage over what they termed as a slow response to Ajit’s disappearance. The former Union Minister Jitendra Singh Alwar requested government to do a proper investigation and said, an untoward incident has taken place under some suspicious circumstances and the case should be seriously investigated.The parents of Ajit, Roop Singh and Santra Devi, have sought justice and proper investigation into the mysterious circumstances surrounding their son’s death.
