Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today revealed that the Nagaland administration provided immediate notification to Assam regarding a significant cloudburst incident in Mon district. This swift communication, occurring just minutes after the event, preceded the widespread flooding that has severely impacted Upper Assam, affecting over 8 lakh people across the region.
Addressing the ongoing flood situation, Chief Minister Sarma underscored the importance of inter-state coordination in disaster management. He highlighted that the timely from Nagaland allowed Assam to prepare for the impending deluge, although the sheer volume of water resulting from the cloudburst proved challenging for the downstream areas.
The cloudburst in Nagaland's Mon district is identified as a primary catalyst for the devastating floods currently gripping several districts of Upper Assam.
