Digital Desk: Following the derailment of multiple coaches of the Anand Vihar-Kamakhya North-East Express train a day earlier, a special train carrying 1006 people left Raghunathpur station in Bihar's Buxar on Thursday morning.


The carriages of the 12506 North-East Express train, which began at Delhi's Anand Vihar Terminus and was on its way to Kamakhya near Guwahati in Assam, derailed near Raghunathpur station in the East Central Railway's Danapur division, according to the Northeast Frontier Railway's Chief Public Relations Officer.


Two trains, Kashi Patna Jan Shatabdi Express (15125) and Patna Kashi Jan Shatabdi Express (15126), have been cancelled, according to a notification published by the East Central Railway zone.


At least four people were killed and approximately 70 were injured when 21 carriages of an express train derailed at 9.30 a.m. on Wednesday.

According to Tarun Prakash, General Manager of East Central Railways (ECR), authorities are examining the reason for the incident.


National and state emergency response teams have arrived at the event site.


Meanwhile, Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the evacuation and rescue activities were over.


Ashwini Choubey, Union Minister of State for Railways, paid a visit to the site this morning to examine the repair and rescue efforts. He stated that efforts to restore rail operations are underway and that an investigation into the cause of the accident has begun. 


According to the minister, the injured are receiving treatment at AIIMS Patna and are no longer in danger.
