Digital Desk: As many as seven people were killed in a landmine explosion on Monday night in Balochistan's Panjgur district including a chairman of the Union Council (UC).

"To target a vehicle carrying Balgatar UC Chairman Ishtiaq Yaqoob and others who were coming from a wedding celebration, miscreants planted a remote explosive device," the Dawn quoted Amjad Somro, deputy commissioner of Panjgur, as saying.

He claimed that the explosive detonated as the vehicle reached Chakar Bazar in the Balgatar area, resulting in the loss of lives.

The deceased have been identified as Mohammad Yaqoob, Ibrahim, Wajid, Fida Hussain, Sarfaraz, and Haider, Dawn reported, adding that they hail from Baltagar and Panjgur.

They stated that the identities of four of the deceased were ascertained by their relatives at a hospital.
