Assam is about to break five existing world records while setting four new ones, for a total of nine world records.

Digital Desk: According to reports on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the state government's efforts in creating a green Assam, even as the Assam government is all set to book nine world records with its major plantation initiative.

The beginning of the Amrit Brikshya Andolan is encouraging, Prime Minister Modi wrote in a letter to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday. It is noble and admirable to plant one crore saplings worldwide.

"The scenic state of Assam is blessed with abundant biodiversity and various ecosystems, including a wide range of flora and wildlife. To increase the amount of green cover in the picturesque state, saplings should be planted on privately and communally owned land," the official added.

The letter went on to say that initiatives like the Amrit Brikshya Andolan will support the government's goal of clean, green growth and have several long-term advantages for the environment and human health.

It should be noted that Assam is about to break five existing world records while setting four new ones, for a total of nine world records.
