Gulab Chand Kataria, previously the Governor of Assam, will step into the roles of Governor of Punjab and Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh.

Digital Desk: In a major reshuffle, the President of India has appointed Lakshman Prasad Acharya, currently serving as the Governor of Sikkim, as the new Governor of Assam. Alongside his new role in Assam, Acharya will also take on the responsibilities as Governor of Manipur. This appointment highlights the strategic significance of Assam and Manipur in the current political context.

The President has also accepted Banwarilal Purohit's resignation from his positions as Governor of Punjab and Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh. With Purohit’s departure, several new appointments have been made across various states.

In Rajasthan, Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde has been appointed as the new Governor. Jishnu Dev Varma will become the Governor of Telangana, while Om Prakash Mathur will take over as the Governor of Sikkim, replacing Acharya. Santosh Kumar Gangwar has been designated as the Governor of Jharkhand, and Ramen Deka will be taking the role of Governor of Chhattisgarh. Meghalaya will welcome C.H. Vijayashankar as its new Governor.

C.P. Radhakrishnan, who has been overseeing Jharkhand and Telangana, will now be the Governor of Maharashtra. Lastly, Gulab Chand Kataria, previously the Governor of Assam, will step into the roles of Governor of Punjab and Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh.

These appointments will become effective as the new appointees assume their respective positions, marking a fresh phase in the governance of these states and territories.
