Rao had previously mentioned losing a film to an outsider in an interview with Ranveer Allalhabadia

Digital Desk: In a recent chat with Karan Johar and Janhvi Kapoor about their upcoming film Mr. and Mrs. Mahi, actor Rajkummar Rao opened up about losing a film role to a star kid.

Rao said that early in his career, he was set to do a film but was suddenly replaced by someone who happened to be a star kid. "In my mind I think it was not fair. Just because you can control things, you know people, you can make some calls, it is being unfair."

Johar, who has been called the "flag-bearer of nepotism" by actress Kangana Ranaut, commented on the insider-outsider debate in Bollywood. He said some people use the nepotism issue to get attention, and doubted that missing parties leads to losing film roles.

Rao had previously mentioned losing a film to an outsider in an interview with Ranveer Allalhabadia. He admitted nepotism played a role but said he prefers to move on, noting it seemed like karma that the film never got made.

Despite facing challenges as an outsider, Rao has carved a successful career through his talent and hard work. He is currently basking in the success of his recently released film Srikanth, with praise pouring in from actors like Ranveer Singh and Akshay Kumar.

Rao's upcoming film Mr. and Mrs. Mahi, co-starring Janhvi Kapoor, is produced by Karan Johar and is set to release on May 31, 2024.
