Digital Desk: In a shocking incident, a family in Navsari of Gujrat was in shock after receiving a bill of Rs 20 lakh for the June-July 2024 period. The family, consisting of four members, uses minimal electricity with just a few bulbs, fans, a fridge, and a TV.

Panktiben Patel, who works at a petrol pump, shared that the June-July 2024 bill from the South Gujarat Power Company totaled a staggering Rs 20,01,902.

"We have four bulbs, four fans, a fridge, and a TV. Three of us are out working all day," said Panktiben Patel.

"We are all out working during the day and have never missed paying our bills," she further stated, expressing the distress this error caused them.

Upon contacting the Gujarat Electricity Board (GEB), they were initially asked to file a formal complaint and pay a fee. However, after reviewing the case, the GEB officer quickly identified a meter reading error. The bill was corrected within an hour, bringing much-needed relief to the family.
