Digital Desk: In a disturbing incident, a government doctor and a broker have been arrested in Namakkal district for allegedly selling seven newborn babies to childless families who had more than two children across Tamil Nadu.
According to Tamil Nadu Health Minister M. Subramanian, a week ago they learned of illicit kidney donations and the sale of infants, and as a result, the district officials started an investigation.
Based on a complaint from a couple who claimed they were approached by a woman posing as a nurse and told them she would pay them Rs. 2 lakh if they sold their baby, Tiruchengode Town Police detained the 49-year-old doctor, A Anuradha, and the tout, T Logammbal, 38.
