After partying on the riverbank, the group entered the river to bathe

Digital Desk: Sagar Timcina from Birkuchi has disappeared into the Brahmaputra River at Panikhaiti near Guwahati. The incident happened yesterday when a   group four friends, Sagar Timcina and his friends Akash Sharma Nihal Sharma, and Uttam Banik went to  Tinikhuti riverbank near Panikhaiti for an afternoon outing.

After partying on the riverbank, the group decided to go swimming in the river to take a bath.  However, Sagar suddenly vanished without a trace below the surface of the water. Despite desperate attempts by his friends to locate him, they were unable to find any trace. The group informed the Panikhaiti Police at 8:30 PM, and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) was notified by the police.

However, due to darkness, the rescue operation could not begin at night. Moreover, they started full-scale search operations the next morning.

The distressing incident took place shortly following another loss that claimed three members of a family from Chandrapur drowned in the Kolong River immersion. The repeated incidents have caused panic and grief in the region.
As of now, Sagar Timcina remains missing, and search operations are underway.
