The victim's body shows the scars of terrible assault, causing uproar within the community.

Digital desk: A criminal case has been lodged against a female police officer who is accused of torturing her maid, Director General of Assam Police (DGP), GP Singh, informed this on Sunday. He also stated that the Assam Police Headquarters had ordered an investigation into the allegations made against the police official.

The victim made an official complaint against the police officer, Subhalakshmi Dutta, who is working as a sub-divisional police officer in Nazira, against whom a formal complaint was filed by the victim alleging that the cop poured hot water onto the maid's body and she was confined to a bathroom.

After the incident came to light, GP Singh posted on his personal 'X' account stating, “Reference reported incident of assault of housemaid at Nazira by a serving police officer - 1. A criminal case has been registered at Nazira and is being investigated. 2. Assam Police HQ has ordered an enquiry into the allegation levelled.”


As per reports, scars of severe assault marks were seen over the victim's body, causing uproar within the community.

The incident had revealed a shocking betrayal of trust among the ranks of the police, prompting a collective call for accountability and swift action.
