‘I decided to quit film industry, but Kiran’s tearful eyes asked me to rethink,’ says Aamir Khan

According to the actor Aamir Khan, when his ex-wife Kiran Rao and children Ira and Azad learned of his decision, they persuaded him to reconsider.

Digital Desk: Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, often called Mr. Perfectionist, spoke at an event on Saturday about his desire to retire from acting as he felt he hadn’t spent sufficient time with his family and wanted to make up for the lost time.

However, his children advised him to strike a work-life balance instead of making such a drastic decision.

At the ABP Ideas of India event, the actor said, “I feel like I’ve spent my entire life chasing and attempting to fulfill my dreams. But I ignored my loved ones during this journey. My parents, siblings, children, first wife Reena, second wife Kiran, and their parents... Perhaps I wasn’t able to devote enough time to them. My daughter is now 23 years old. I’m sure she wished she could have had my presence in her life when she was younger. She will have experienced her own anxieties, fears, dreams, and hopes. I’m sorry I wasn’t there for her. I didn’t know her dreams, fears, or hopes, but I did know my directors’ fears, dreams, and hopes.”

When asked about the moment, he decided to resign; he stated, “I have no idea what my children want, which is a major issue. When I realized my error, I was furious with myself and even with the theatre. I used to believe that cinema was what separated me from my family. As a result, I decided to stop acting. I’ve informed my family that I will not be making any more films. I’m not going to act or produce anything.”

However, Aamir was hesitant to announce his retirement because he believed it would be perceived as a publicity stunt by his fans since the decision was ahead of his upcoming release film ‘Laal Singh Chadha.’

“I considered announcing my retirement, but I thought it would be perceived as a marketing ploy for Laal Singh Chaddha, so I chose to remain silent. My films have a 3-4 year gap between them, so after Laal Singh Chaddha, no one will bother me for the next 3-4 years, and I can quietly take a back seat,’ the actor revealed.

However, according to the actor, when his ex-wife Kiran Rao and children Ira and Azad learned of his decision, they persuaded him to reconsider.

Further, when asked about their advice to him, he stated, “My children and Kiran ji both told me that I was mistaken. My children have told me that I am an extreme person, and that it is best if I find a balance between my personal and professional lives. Kiran was a huge help to me during this time. She burst into tears after hearing my decision. Kiran told me that I enjoy watching movies and that she can’t imagine me without it. As a result, she was opposed to my decision.”

Speaking on his work front, Aamir Khan will next be seen in ‘Laal Singh Chaddha,’ a film starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mona Singh, and Naga Chaitanya. The film was directed by Advait Chandan, best known for his work on Secret Superstar.
