Digital desk: The singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has remained true to his choice to keep his family private, therefore not much is known about his personal life. And for good reason—he's turned into a "Beeba Munda" (good boy) character.
However, the actor-singer's friends have surprisingly stated that Diljit is married to an Indian-American woman and has a son in a profile published by The Indian Express for Sunday Express Eye.
The profile mentioned. “An intensely private person, little is known about his family but friends say his wife is an American-Indian and they have a son, and his parents live in Ludhiana.” The report mentioned that both his wife and son live in the US.
Diljit started creating his music when he was in his teens. He was born in 1984, a year that Punjab and India will always remember. “His father Balbir Singh was a bus driver with Punjab Roadways who enjoyed playing hockey in his spare time,” Makhan Singh, said to The Indian Express.
At the age of eleven, Diljit was sent to live with his uncle, and he said in a recent interview with Ranveer Allahbadia that this caused their relationship to fall apart.
Singer-composer Balvir Boparai, who previously collaborated with a Ludhiana-based record label, recalled in an Indian Express feature that Diljit approached him in 2000, seeking to expand his career in the state's growing music industry.
“He barely had any beard, but he had the rhythm, did bhangra well, and tied a very good turban. He was 16 when we cut his first album Ishq Da Uda Ada (The ABC of Love). By the time he was 17, he was charging Rs 50,000 for a show and was getting booked almost every day during the wedding season,” said Boparai, who partnered with him.
Diljit has gained recognition as an international musician just in the past year alone. He was the first Indian singer to perform at Coachella and went on to work with Sia, an international pop sensation.
One day after Rihanna, he also performed Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant's pre-wedding celebrations. Diljit was most recently spotted with Kareena Kapoor in the movie Crew.
Next, he will play the lead role in Amar Singh Chamkila, a Hindi movie that is probably his largest to date and is based on the life of the deceased Punjabi folk artist.
