Digital Desk: Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone, who ventured into the beauty industry by launching her skincare brand, 82 E, in 2022, has faced criticism over the past year regarding the pricing of her products. The actor, however, addressed these concerns head-on in a recent interview, reassuring consumers that she actively uses the products she sells.

In a conversation with CNBC-TV 18, Deepika stated, "If I am selling you a Rs 2,500 product, then rest assured I am also using it every day." Notably, the brand's 15 ml under-eye cream, priced at Rs 2,400, stands as the most expensive item on her website in terms of the price-to-quantity ratio.

Reflecting on the backlash and the brand's resilience, Deepika emphasized the importance of consistency and authenticity. "The way we have been able to do that is be consistent and true to who we are. That’s how we have been able to grow a successful brand in the past one year, and we will continue to do that," she asserted.

Acknowledging the inevitable trolling that comes with being a celebrity entrepreneur, Deepika added, "As far as celebrity brands or celebrities in general getting backlash or getting trolled, it’s a part of what we do. I think as long as you put your head down and keep going, as long as you are true and honest to what you do, you will always move ahead of the tide."

Deepika revealed that she personally tests every product before it enters clinical or dermatological trials. "I am the guinea pig. I am absolutely the first one in the system to try out anything, even before it goes into clinical trials or dermatological trials. I try them for at least a week, if not more. Sometimes it goes on for a couple of months, depending on my feedback, and then when I give a green signal, that's when it goes into clinical trials," she explained.

Despite the skincare brand's ups and downs, Deepika Padukone has enjoyed a successful year in the film industry, with hits like "Pathaan" and "Jawan". As she continues to navigate both the entertainment and business worlds, Deepika remains committed to the growth and authenticity of 82 E.
