The Knight Riders Group, owned by Shah Rukh Khan, has teamed up with Major League Cricket to build a state-of-the-art cricket stadium in Los Angeles.
Digital Desk: Shah Rukh Khan and his fans had a good start to the year 2022. The actor revealed information about his upcoming film Pathaan as well as a new film directed by Rajkumar Hirani.
Shahrukh has now made an announcement that will delight cricket fans. The T20 will be made bigger and better. The actor's Knight Riders Group plans to construct a world-class cricket facility in Los Angeles. MLC, in collaboration with the Knight Riders Group and the City of Irvine, has signed an exclusive negotiating agreement (ENA) to move forward with lease negotiations and design approvals for a world-class cricket venue on a 15-acre parcel at Great Park.
"We believe in the exciting future of cricket in the United States, and our investment in MLC in America is well aligned with our strategy of establishing Knight Riders as a global brand in T20 cricket." For us and MLC, the prospect of constructing a world-class cricket stadium in the greater Los Angeles area is exciting. In a statement, Shah Rukh Khan said, "This will no doubt have a transformational impact on one of the world's most iconic metropolitan areas."
The stadium will also feature cutting-edge training facilities, locker rooms, luxury suites, dedicated parking, concessions, field lighting, and an international-grade pitch to meet International Cricket Council (ICC) accreditation and allow it to host the highest level of international cricket competition, according to the statement.
With the 2024 Men's T20 World Cup already set to be co-hosted by the United States and the West Indies, USA Cricket is expected to bid for future men's and women's World Cup tournaments. The International Cricket Council is attempting to have cricket included in the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles; if successful, the stadium at Great Park is expected to be a focal point for the event in Southern California.
The Knight Riders Group (KRG) was one of MLC's first investors. The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) are both owned by KRG (CPL).
Shah Rukh Khan will next be seen in Pathaan, alongside Deepika Padukone and John Abraham, and then in Rajkumar Hirani's Dunki, alongside Taapsee Pannu.
