The seer was admitted to Adichunchanagiri Hospital in Bellur and was being treated there. However, the seer did not respond to the treatment and died.
When the pontiff of Adichunchanagiri Math, Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji, learned of the seer's death, he rushed to Bellur.

Ratnavarma, the seer, was born on May 3, 1949. He was 73. He was a Sanskrit and Kannada scholar, as well as an expert in Jain philosophy. Mysore University awarded him an MA in History, and Bangalore University awarded him an MA in Philosophy.
