Marks obtained in the prelims are not counted toward the final merit list
Digital Desk: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is expected to announce the results of the CSE Preliminary Exam on its official site, which is upsc.gov.in while the exact date and time are not confirmed yet, candidates are encouraged to check the official site.
The CSE Prelims 2025 exam was conducted on May 25, 2025. This was a screening test that included two MCQ papers of each of 2 hours and a maximum of 200 marks. The marks gained in prelims do not appear on the final merit list. Candidates should also note that one-third (0.33) of the marks assigned to a question are deducted for every incorrect answer.
This year, the UPSC aims to fill a total of 979 positions in three major services: IAS, IPS, and IFS. The total number of vacancies in this group is 38, and they include openings for people with blindness or low vision, hearing impairment, locomotor disabilities, and multiple disabilities, including deaf-blindness.

The expected category-wise cut-off for UPSC Prelims 2025, based on feedback and paper difficulty, is as follows:
• General: 91
• EWS: 90
• OBC: 88
• SC: 79
• ST: 75
The estimates are created by judging how hard a paper is and how many vacancies are available. The final cut-off numbers will only be determined by UPSC.
