Imperial College London unveils major scholarship scheme for Indian students
The Future Leaders Scholarship project was launched in response to Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Minister of Science and Technology, who visited the campus earlier this year.

Digital Desk: Leading UK university Imperial College London announced on Wednesday that it will sponsor 30 of India's brightest Master's scholars for the next three years as part of its largest-ever scholarship scheme.

The Future Leaders Scholarship project was launched in response to Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Minister of Science and Technology, who visited the campus earlier this year. It would help equal numbers of male and female scholars to develop the potential of the upcoming Indian generation of science leaders.

Professor Peter Haynes, Vice-Provost (Education and Student Experience) at Imperial College London, stated, "We are thrilled to launch our biggest-ever scholarship programme for Indian scientists, reaffirming our commitment to attract the very best students from all backgrounds and support them to flourish."

He said that the Future Leaders Scholarship will create a mechanism for the brightest students in India to continue their education and broaden their horizons at one of the best colleges in the world.

The institution also inked a new agreement with the UK government's Chevening Scholarships programme, which will finance three more Master's students from India over the following three years in addition to the new scholarship programme.

The scholarship is intended for students pursuing Master's degrees in engineering, the natural sciences, business, and medical research. It will cover the entire cost of tuition and living expenses.

Professor Haynes, who is now visiting India, added, "We are able to provide opportunities to deserving Indian students because of our long-standing partnership with the esteemed Chevening Scholarships programme."

A group of former students and prospective students were present when the announcements were made during a university team visit to the British Council in New Delhi.

According to Alison Barrett MBE, Director India, British Council, "Imperial ranks as one of the best universities in the world, and its new scholarships have given talented and ambitious young Indians a chance to study in the UK and receive an excellent education."

It gives us great pleasure to inform the students at our cultural facility in New Delhi about these scholarships. We help students who aspire to have prosperous careers by putting them in touch with UK education specialists and providing them with vital knowledge about studying in the country, she said.
