When it was discovered that the victim's body had been gone through unimaginable cruelty, the community was outraged.

Digital Desk: The female police officer who was charged with torturing her domestic helper in Nazira has been closed to Assam Police Headquarters. On Wednesday, Director General of Assam Police (DGP) GP Singh informed this.

The police officer, known as Subhalakshmi Dutta, who is accused of abusing her maid by pouring boiling water on her body is currently serving as Additional Superintendent of Police (Border) Charaideo.

Taking to the 'X' platform, Singh said, "Reference Nazira incident of assault of house maid - Smt Subhalakshmi Dutta, Additional Superintendent of Police (Border) Charaideo is closed to @assampolice Hq with immediate effect in the interest of fair investigation. Further action would be taken on receipt of Departmental enquiry being carried out by IGP NER."

It should be noted that once the incident came to light, a criminal case was filed against the police officers, and the Assam Police Headquarters also requested an investigation into the claims made.

Many have criticised the incident harshly, raising concerns about the safety of the individuals under the authority of those who have been given the responsibility to protect us.
