The court has ordered the government to provide an affidavit projecting light on this concerning scenario...

Digital Desk: During a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) hearing, the government has confirmed the presence of hazardous magnesium carbonate in 43 different pan masala brands.

According to sources, this acknowledgement was given in court by Advocate General Devajit Saikia.

As a result, the court has ordered the government to provide an affidavit shining light on this concerning issue within a week.

The next hearing in this case is planned for November 7, at which point additional actions and investigations are expected.

Previously, on August 27, the Gauhati High Court asked the state government to prevent the sale of pan masala and gutkha containing fatal magnesium carbonate or to take appropriate measures.

This revelation raises serious questions regarding the safety of these items as well as the potential health dangers they pose to customers.
