Digital Desk: In an official announcement issued on September 2, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has extended the water supply suspension until September 4.


''It is for general information to Guwahati Municipal Corporation water supply consumers that the disruption of water supply, which began on 01/09/2023, is hereby extended until 04/09/2023 due to technical difficulties in modification and shifting of existing 450 mm dia water pumping main from Panbazar Water Treatment Plant to Sarania reservoir thereof,'' the statement added. 


It went on to say that the work had already begun on September 1 and was scheduled to be completed by September 4.


''The water supply will be restored once the repair is completed. Customers are asked to bear with Guwahati Municipal Corporation due to this unavoidable scenario,'' according to the statement.


Owing to the renovation and relocation of the existing water pumping main from the Panbazar Water Treatment Plant to the Sarania reservoir, the water supply has been disrupted since September 1.
