Eden Gardens will host several ODI World Cup games, including the match between India and South Africa on November 5...

Digital Desk: With the ODI World Cup 2023 just around the corner, a major fire broke out in one of the main tournament's sites, Eden Gardens. According to local sources, a fire broke out in one of the legendary Kolkata stadium's dressing rooms. 

Eden Gardens will host numerous ODI World Cup games, including the match between India and South Africa on November 5. On November 16, it will also host the second semi-final. 

According to a report in the local newspaper Sangabad Pratidin, the fire started about 11:50 p.m.

The stadium's on-site grounds crew observed the fire coming from the "away end's dressing room." As stated in the report, construction was taking on outside the dressing room. The report also claims that smoke came from the dressing room's artificial ceiling. However, the fire was quickly put out after the fire brigade was called.

During the World Cup 2023, the renowned Eden Gardens will host six games, including the second semifinal on November 16.

On November 5, India under the leadership of Rohit Sharma will play South Africa at Eden Gardens, while Pakistan and Bangladesh will square off in the venue's inaugural game on October 31.
