Digital Desk: In a late-night operation on Thursday, forest workers in the Tinsukia district of Assam's Pengeri region, opened fire on illegal loggers in the Tekeri forest area.

A team from the Khatangpani forest range, working under the Doom Dooma forest division, responded to information regarding illegal tree-cutting activities, which is how the incident unfolded. They carried out the operation at night because they felt there was an immediate need for intervention.

The miscreants attempted to flee as the forest officers approached. However, the forest personnel opened fire to apprehend them.

It should be noted that there were no reported casualties in the incident.

Shravan Saikia, a forest officer, led the operation after learning specifically about the illegal activities taking place in the Tekeri forest area.
